Jim Rueda (sports writer) (builder category) - 1979 MSU graduate...Started working as a part-time sports writer at Mankato Free Press in 1976 before becoming a full-time writer at the paper shortly following graduation..Has covered Maverick Athletics for more than 40 years... Born and raised in Queens, N.Y., during the turbulent 1960s and early ‘70s, and did a three-year service hitch in the U.S. Army before earning an honorable discharge and enrolling at then-Mankato State University where he received degrees in mass communications, political science and philosophy.
