WEST FARGO, N.D. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team earned its fourth NSIC Championship in team history Saturday evening as it notched 1,166.5 points.
MSU had previously won the NSIC Championship in 2018, 2021 and 2022. MSU's 1,166.5 points mark the fourth time they have scored more than 1,000 points at the conference meet. St. Cloud State finished in second place with 780.5 points.
In the 200 backstroke event, MSU swept the All-NSIC honors as three Mavericks claimed the top-three finishes. Sophomore
Savannah Acker won the event with a provisional qualifying time of 2:02.01. Junior
Gretta Hansen followed in second with a time of 2:03.05, while sophomore
Teresa Collingwood finished third with a time of 2:03.72.
Acker was named the NSIC Swimmer of the Meet for her efforts as she led all swimmers with 80 points at the meet. Acker is the first Maverick to been named the NSIC Swimmer of the Meet.
Sophomore
Kaylie Gibbs claimed All-NSIC accolades in the 1,650 freestyle event as she finished second with a time of 17:22.62. Freshman
Lauren Neis took eighth place with a time of 18:14.10.
In the 100 IM, sophomore
Norah Naatjes earned All-NSIC honors as she took second place with a time of 58.78. Senior
Claudia Schwartz finished in fifth place with a time of 59.68 also.
Sophomore
Averi Larsen took second place in the 100 freestyle as her time of 50.66 earned her All-NSIC honors. Sophomore
Hannah Denzer also claimed All-NSIC honors in the 100 freestyle as she finished third with a time of 51.50. Larsen and Denzer both recorded provisional qualifying times.
The duo of senior
Klair Bradley and freshman
Emily Spielman finished in a tie for second in the 200 breaststroke as they both recorded times of 2:21.16 to earn All-NSIC honors.
In the 1-meter diving event, junior
Natalie Freeman took second place with a score of 422.95 to claim All-NSIC honors. Sophomore
Chloe Dobie finished in sixth place with a score of 377.60 as well.
In the final event of the day, the quartet of Denzer, Larsen, sophomore
Sydney Pippert and Naatjes won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:25.27.
The four-day NCAA Championships begin on March 10 and will be held at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Ind.
