Mavericks Increase Lead After Day Three of NSIC Championships

WEST FARGO, N.D. --- Minnesota State won two more events on day three of the NSIC Championships to extends its overall lead in the team standings.

MSU sits in first place in the team standings with 825.5 points, with St. Cloud State following in second place with 539.5 points.

Sophomore Savannah Acker won the 100 backstroke event with a provisional qualifying time of 55.48. Sophomore Teresa Colllingwood also claimed All-NSIC honors in the 100 backstroke event as she finished in third place with a time of 59.96.

MSU also won the 200 freestyle relay event as the team of sophomore Averi Larsen, Acker, freshman Gracie Bartholomew and sophomore Norah Naatjes turned in a time of 1:33.34.

Sophomore Hannah Denzer earned All-NSI honors in the 500 freestyle event as she finished third with a time of 5:05.47.

In the 100 breaststroke event, Larsen took second place with a time of 1:03.18 to earn All-NSIC honors. Freshman Jessica Paulsen took fifth place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.21, with freshman Emily Spielman following right behind in sixth with a time of 1:05.68.

Junior Gretta Hansen claimed All-NSIC honors in the 200 butterfly event also as she finished in third with a time of 2:06.77.

The NSIC Championships conclude on Saturday with the prelims set for 10:00 a.m., with the finals set to follow at 5:00 p.m. The 1-meter diving prelims will begin at 1:00 p.m.
