SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- Minnesota State finished the Augustana Invite in first place after winning several events on the final two days.
As a team, MSU finished first in the team standings with 2,492.50 points, with Augustana following in second place with 1,615.50 points. UMary took third place with 1,151 points.
Day two of the Augustana Invite saw the Maverick 200 medley relay team of sophomore
Savannah Acker, sophomore
Averi Larsen, freshman
Parker Schmeiding and sophomore
Norah Naatjes turn in a first place finish with a time of 1:42.85.
Acker would also win the 100 backstroke event as she turned in a time of 55.99.
Schmieding would finish second in the 100 butterfly event with a time of 56.86, while junior
Gretta Hansen posted a second place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.61 as well.
The final day would see the team of Larsen, sophomore
Hannah Denzer sophomore
Sydney Pippert and freshman
Gracie Batholomew take first place in the 800 freestyle relay event with a time of 7:44.54. The Mavericks would also take first place in the 400 freestyle relay as the team of Denzer, Pippert, Acker and Larsen posted a time of 3:25.56.
Acker took first place in the 200 backstroke event with a time of 2:01.42, with her teammate
Alexandra Gorecki following right behind in second place with a time of 2:03.85. Larsen won the 100 freestyle event as she posted a time of 51.12, with Denzer following in second with a time of 51.88.
Sophomore
Kaylie Gibbs notched a second place finish in the 1,650 freestyle event with a time of 17:39.38, while Naatjes finished second in the 100 IM event with a time of 58.35. Senior
Klair Bradley also turned in a second place finish in the 200 breaststroke event with a time of 2:22.52.
In the 1-meter diving event, junior
Natalie Freeman finished in third place with a score of 412.95 points. She also finished second in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 365.20.
Minnesota State begins its winter break training trip in Kona, Hawaii on Dec. 29. The Mavericks will then face off with Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State in a double dual on Jan. 16 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
