Mavericks Name 2024-25 Leadership Group

MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey coach Shari Dickerman has announced her 2024-25 leadership group.

Serving as captain for the upcoming season will be graduate student Sydney Langseth. Seniors Shelbi Guttormson, Madison Mashuga and Jamie Nelson will all serve as alternate captains.

"We are excited about our leadership group for the upcoming season," said Dickerman. "All four bring effort, energy and enthusiasm in everything they do. They have been leading by example, since long before they stepped foot on our campus. 
We cannot wait to see how far this group will take us as we aim for new heights in the WCHA."

#3 Senior Sydney Langseth – Eden Prairie, Minn. – Forward
Langseth served as an alternate captain during the 2003-24 season… Played in all 38 games last season… Finished 15-17—32 on the season, establishing season highs in goals scored, assists and points… Recorded four power play tallies… Her 17 assists are tied for the ninth most in a season by a Maverick… Has appeared in 125 games in her career… Her 32 career goals is tied for tenth all-time… Is tied for tenth all-time in points with fellow Maverick Jamie Nelson with 73... Was a Krampade Division I All-American Scholar in 2023… Three-time WCHA All-Academic Team member.

#11 Senior Shelbi Guttormson – Moorhead, Minn. – Defense
Guttormson played in all 38 games last season… Finished the year with two goals and three assists for five points… Has played in 109 career games as a Maverick scoring 7 goals and assisting on another 17 for 24 career points… Two-time WCHA All-Academic Team Member.

#22 Senior Madison Mashuga – Andover, Minn. –­ Forward
Mashuga served as an alternate captain during the 2023-24 season… Played in 26 games a year ago, finishing 3-8—11… For her career she is 20-29—49 in 117 career games… Three-time WCHA All-Academic team member.

#10 Senior Jamie Nelson – Andover, Minn. – Forward
Nelson played in all 38 games last season and finished with 30 points on 20 goals and ten assists… The 20 goals was the most she's scored in a season as a Maverick and the second-highest single-season tally in program history… The 22 assists is the third most in program history… Had five game winning goals, tied for the most in a season in program history… Is seventh all-time in goals (34) and is tied for tenth with Langseth in career points (73)…Her six career game winning goals is the fifth most in program history… Three-time WCHA All-Academic team member… Was a Krampade Division I All-American Scholar in 2023… Was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team and was the school's first ever WCHA Rookie of the Year winner in 2021.
