ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Minnesota State (12-15-5, 6-15-2 WCHA) dropped a 5–1 decision to St. Cloud State on Friday night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
The Mavericks faced an early deficit as St. Cloud State scored three times in the first period. Minnesota State generated chances but was unable to find the net, trailing 3–0 after one. The Huskies added two more goals in the second period despite Minnesota State earning a power play opportunity.
Minnesota State got on the board in the third period when Mercury Bischoff scored at the 5:00 mark, assisted by Lauren Zawoyski and Ava Guillemette. The Mavericks continued to push offensively but were held to the single goal. Goaltender Hailey Hansen recorded 31 saves.
The Mavericks will look to rebound against St. Cloud State on Saturday, Feb. 7, with puck drop set for 2:02 p.m. CT in St. Cloud.
