Box Score MANKATO, Minn.--- The Minnesota State baseball team dropped their first game of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference post-season tournament to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears Thursday in St. Cloud, Minn., at Dick Putz Field.
After the loss the Mavericks record moves to 33-15 on the year.
The Mavericks took the game's first lead in the bottom half of the first inning when senior
Kyle Toth led off with a double to left center and moved to third on an infield ground out by sophomore
Josh Wenzel.
 Toth eventually scored on sophomore
Luke Waldek's double to right center to go up 1-0.
Concordia-St. Paul answered with a run in the top of the second inning to tie it up and tallied one in the top of the third on a couple of Maverick errors to gain the lead at 2-1.
The Golden Bears lengthened their lead to 5-1 with three more in the top of the fifth on three hits, but the Mavericks tallied two in the bottom half of the sixth to make it a two-run game with
Wenzel and junior
Eric Peterson each crossing home plate to make it 5-3.
Concordia-St. Paul added two more with a long two-run shot to left center for a 7-3 lead.
The Mavericks answered with one run in the bottom of the seventh when senior
Chase Lonetti made his way around the bases after leading off with a single to left making it 7-4 on the scoreboard.
The Golden Bears added one more for insurance in the top of the ninth with two outs to cement their win at 8-4.
Sophomore
Brody Rodning took the loss in the match in moving his record to 5-2 on the year.
Rodning threw four complete allowing four earned runs on five hits and striking out five. Â Minnesota State's bullpen that included junior

Peter Gaustad, and junior
Bailey Scott combined for the last five innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and four strike outs.
At the plate, the Mavericks were led by seniors
Toth,
Taylor Branstad and
Lonetti who tallied two hits apiece with
Lonetti scoring a run and
Branstad batting one in with a double.
The Mavericks were out hit during the affair by a clip of 11-9 while MSU committed three errors in the field to CSP's zero.
Minnesota State will play next at 7:00 p.m. to face Sioux Falls at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. Â The Mavericks swept USF earlier in the regular season out scoring the Cougars by a mark of 41-10 in the four-game set.
