Scouting North Dakota: The No. 10 Fighting Hawks (2-1-1, 1-1-0) opened WCHA play last weekend with a two-game series at St. Cloud State. The Fighting Hawks won 1-0 on Friday before losing 3-2 on Saturday.
In their victory on Friday, the Fighting Hawks' lone goal -- a shorthanded goal -- was scored by Amy Menke. It was the sixth shorthanded goal of Menke's career -- the most in North Dakota program history. This season, Menke is tied for the team lead in goals (1), assists (2) and points (3) with Gracen Hirschy.
Between the pipes, Lexie Shaw (2-0-1) picked up her first shutout of the season in Friday's win over St. Cloud State. Shaw leads the WCHA with a .972 save percentage -- the second-highest save percentage in the nation.
Last Time Around: The Mavericks are 24-25-7 all-time against the Fighting Hawks. Minnesota State and North Dakota met four times last season -- twice in Grand Forks, N.D., and twice in Mankato, Minn. Minnesota State was 0-3-1 against North Dakota in 2015-16. In their tie, North Dakota won the shootout.
