MANKATO, Minn. --- Former Minnesota State Maverick,
Jamie Nelson was in the selected in the second round by Toronto as the 20
th overall pick the in tonight's PWHL Draft.
Nelson, who played at Minnesota State from 2020-2025, saw action in 124 games for the Mavericks. She ranks second all-time in assists (61), third in points (103) and fifth in goals (42).
In 2020, Nelson was named the WCHA's
Rookie of the Year after finishing tied for the team lead in goals (8) and assists (7). The award marked the first – and only – time that a Maverick has won the league's rookie of the year honors.
In 2023-24, Nelson tallied 20 goals, her highest single-season tally. Last season, Nelson skated for the University of Minnesota, appearing in 39 games and scoring 11 goals to go with a team-high 31 assists for 42 points.
