On Tap: No. 5 Minnesota State returns to the confines of the MSU Baseball Complex to begin an eight-game home stand this week starting with a twinbill on Wednesday against Upper Iowa beginning at 1:30 p.m. This weekend the Mavericks will host Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday in a pair of doubleheaders. Saturday's games are set to begin at 1:30 p.m. while Sunday's first pitch is slated for noon.
The Purple and Gold went 6-0 last week after picking up a pair of 9-7 wins over Augustana College. They then swept a four-game series on the road against Bemidji State. In the six games MSU recorded 106 runs, 117 hits, 22 doubles, two triples and 19 home runs.
Last Time on the Diamond: In the Mavericks most recent series against Bemidji State, they outscored the Beavers 88-34 and outhit them 92-43. In game two of the doubleheader, the two teams combined for an NCAA Division II record 56 hits and the Mavericks broke a single-game run record with 41 in the win.
In game one, the Mavericks were up 7-0 before BSU stormed back to take a 9-7 lead. Senior 
Max Waletich came up in the final inning with two outs and two runners on and smacked a three-run home run to push the Mavericks to a 10-9 victory. In the second game of the doubleheader, MSU defeated the Beavers 41-20. Waletich hit two home runs while senior's

Josh Wenzel each hit one home run in the win. Nine different Mavericks had at least two hits and redshirt freshman 
Dylan Dresel led all batters with five. In game three, MSU won 14-4 and hit another three home runs. Freshman 
Brody Rodning pitched all seven innings and scattered nine hits while allowing four earned runs and striking out four to move to 5-0 on the year. Waletich hit three home runs in the final game of the series, including two in the same inning, and freshman 
Dalton Roach allowed six hits and one earned run over six innings for his third win of the year as the Purple and Gold won, 23-1.
Junior 
Taylor Branstad hit .733 with one double and one home run in the four-game series. Redshirt freshman 
Luke Waldek hit .556 with two home runs, three doubles and 14 RBI while Waletich finished with a .526 batting average, 1.632 slugging percentage, 7 home runs and 15 RBI.
Looking at the Peacocks: Upper Iowa comes into the series having lost its last four games. They stand 15-17 overall and are 7-11 in the NSIC.
The Peacocks are led offensively by redshirt freshman Jacob Greco (OF, 6-1, 185, Fayette, Iowa) who is batting .397 with eight home runs and 42 RBI. Sophomore Mitch Moser (SS, 6-0, 180, Atkins, Iowa) is hitting .368 with four home runs, eight doubles and 26 RBI.
On the hill, senior Mason Buster (P, 6-1, 200, Brea, Calif.) is 3-1 with a 5.46 ERA in 31.1 innings. Junior Garrison Becker (6-2, 170, West Richland, Wash.) has started five games and is 0-3 with a 7.25 ERA.
Inside the MSU vs. UIU Series: The Mavericks hold the edge in the all-time series against the Vikings holding a 22-6 record.
Scouting the Golden Bears: Concordia-St. Paul stands 14-12 overall and are 12-6 in conference play. They will play a doubleheader at Northern State before battling the Mavericks this weekend.
Junior Eric Fasnacht (INF, 5-10, 165, Eden Prairie, Minn.) leads the team in almost every offensive category. He is batting .427 and slugging .742 with five home runs, two triples, nine doubles and 26 RBI.
Junior Zach Rengel (LHP, 6-2, 200, Fergus Falls, Minn.) is 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA and a team high 40 strikeouts on the mound for the Golden Bears.

Minnesota State has five Northern Intercollegiate Conference titles (1968, 1969, 1979, 1980, 1981), 19 North Central Conference championships (1970, 1971, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2007) and four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference crowns (2010, 2011, 2012,2014). The program has 33 appearances in the NCAA Division II National Tournament (1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and eight in the NCAA Division II World Series (1971, 1979, 1980, 1986, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014) including third-place finishes in 2012 and 2014 and a national runner-up performance in 2013.
