Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State hockey team gave up a power-play goal in the second and third periods and that proved to be the difference as the Mavericks fell to the University of North Dakota 2-1 Saturday afternoon at All Seasons Arena.
With the loss the Mavericks fall to 0-2-0 overall and 0-2-0 in WCHA play while UND improves to 3-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in league play.
The Mavericks scored their first goal of the season in the first period to get an early 1-0 lead over UND. Freshman

Nicole Schammel were each credited with an assist on the scoring play.
In the second period UND would answer back on the power-play with under a minute left to play as
Becca Kohler tallied her fourth goal of the season.
UND added another power-play goal, this one by
Amy Menke, which proved to be the game-winner with nine minutes left to play in the final period.
Sophomore
Brianna Quade made her first career start for the Mavericks making 47 saves on the afternoon. She now owns a record of 0-1-0 on the young season.
UND outshot the Mavericks 49-9 going 2-4 on its power-play opportunities while MSU was 0-2 with the extra skater.
The Mavericks will be back on the ice in All Seasons Arena next Friday as they host St. Cloud State at 7:07 p.m. before traveling to St. Cloud on Saturday to take on the Huskies on their home ice.
