Box Score 2 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minnesota State picked up two wins against the University of Sioux Falls Friday night as the Mavericks won 6-2 in the first game before earning a 7-1 game-two victory.
The Cougars struck early picking up two first-inning runs highlighted by an RBI single by Zach Ireland.
MSU bounced back quickly with a four-run second inning as senior
Ben Kincaid hit a three-run home run to give MSU a 4-2 lead.
Senior
Matt Odegaard recorded an RBI double in the third inning before scoring on a passed ball to give MSU the 6-2 lead where the score would remain for the remainder of the game.
Three Mavericks finished with multiple hits as junior
Mike Eckhart went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Kincaid and senior
Jeremy Sudbeck each went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Senior
Harvey Martin picked up his sixth win of the season after allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out three batters in four innings of work.
For the second-straight game Sioux Falls jumped out to a quick lead, this time a 1-0 lead, before Minnesota State responded in the fourth inning.

MSU would take its first lead of the game the following inning after junior
Lucas Skjefte recorded an RBI bunt single scoring Eckhart before sophomore
Todd Standish stole home to give MSU a 3-1 lead.
The Mavericks broke the game open in the eighth inning as Sudbeck added another RBI single before a two-run single by Odegaard put MSU in control with a 6-1 lead. MSU would add an insurance run in the ninth inning as the Mavericks improved to 15-3 overall while the loss dropped Sioux Falls to 3-19.
Skjefte led MSU going 3-for-5 at the plate with a run and an RBI. Kuchenbecker, Kincaid, Eckhart and Odegaard each went 2-for-4 while Odegaard added two RBI.
Starting pitcher sophomore
Tyler Ockuly allowed just one earned run on four hits in three innings. Sophomore
Bryce Bellin earned his fourth win of the season after allowing no runs or hits while picking up 10 strikeouts in four innings of work.
Minnesota State is back in action tomorrow for a double dip against Sioux Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
