Minnesota State Set to Battle Bulldogs on the Road

MANKATO, Minn.­ — The Minnesota State baseball team (22-6 overall, 11-1 NSIC), owners of a seven-game winning streak and having won thirteen of its last fourteen games, will travel to Duluth, Minn. for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader with the Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon. Game one is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.

Last Action: The Mavericks swept the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs in a home-and-home series last week. Minnesota State downed SMSU at home 11-1 and 8-2, then traveled to Marshall, Minn. for a two game tilt and left with 15-3 and 8-1 victories.

About Minnesota Duluth: The Bulldogs are currently 14-14 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC. This past weekend, they went 1-3 against St. Cloud State. UMD defeated the Huskies in its second meeting, 9-6. Minnesota Duluth is led by senior outfielder Will Dahlgren who has started all 28 games for the Bulldogs and owns a .360 batting average, .464 OBP and .494 slugging percentage. Dahlgren has seven doubles, one triple, one home run and a team-best 24 RBI on the year. The University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs are coached by Bob Rients.

Team and Player Notes:
- The Mavericks have scored the majority of their runs in the third (35) and the fifth (36) innings this season and have giving up the most runs in the second (16) and third (18).
- In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, junior outfielder Aaron Berner, a native of     Grantsburg, Wis., finished the contest five-for-five (2.800 Slugging percentage), including three home runs, five RBI and scored three runs. He now owns five homers on the season to lead MSU.
- Sophomore right-handed pitcher Ben Kincaid, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., earned NSIC Pitcher of the Week after pitching his first complete game of the year in seven innings of work. Kincaid scattered five hits, gave up one unearned run and striking out six batters. With the win, Kincaid improved his record to 4-1 and owns a 3.00 ERA on the season.
- Senior right-handed pitcher Patrick Lenton, a native of Maple Grove, Minn., continues to lead the Mavericks with a 6-2 record, a team-low 2.16 earned run average and 51strikeouts in a team-high 50 innings pitched. Lenton's 20 career wins ranks seventh all-time at MSU and his 193 career strikeouts ties for sixth all-time.
- Senior third baseman Kosuke Hattori, a native of Kanagawa, Japan, is currently hitting .337 with five doubles, two triples, one home run and 22 RBI on the year, sits second all-time with 79 steals, second in walks with 91 and tied for second with 145 runs scored. Hattori is also tied for fourth with 192 career hits and his 567 at bats ranks him second on MSU's career list, sixth in triples (8) and is tied for fourth in career games (185).

On Deck: MSU then travels to Bismarck, N.D., April 10 and 11 for a four-game tilt with the University of Mary Marauders. Saturday's contest is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m and Sunday's at 12:00 p.m.
