ST. JOSEPH, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team wrapped up round one of the NCAA Central Region Championships in fifth place Monday.
The three-round NCAA Central Region Championships are being held at the par-72 St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. Minnesota State shot a 315 (+27) in round one. Rogers State and Henderson State sit atop the team standings with scores of 309 (+21). Six players are tied for the top spot in the individual standings at 74 (+2).
"I'm super happy with how the women played in the wind," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "We definitely kept ourselves in a good spot after day one."
Junior
Victoria Woytassek led MSU in round one with a 76 (+4) as she finished the round in 10th place. She notched three birdies in round one and shot just one over par on the back nine.
Senior
Samantha Youngquist and sophomore
Emerson Garlie both finished the round in a tie for 24th place as they shot a 79 (+7). Youngquist notched one birdie while Garlie tallied two.

Ava Olson and junior
Emma Berge sit in 45th place after the first round with scores of 81 (+9).
Round two of the NCAA Central Region Championships is scheduled for Tuesday.
