BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round one of the NSIC Championships in second place Wednesday.
The three-round NSIC Championships are being held at the par-72 Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Thirteen teams are competing in the event. The Mavericks finished round one with a 308 (+20). Minnesota Crookston sits one stroke ahead of the Mavericks at 307 (+19). UMC's Anaka Lysne leads the individual standings with a 70 (-2).
"We played solid as team for the first 13 holes, then we struggled to finish the round," assistant coach
Todd Pfingsten said. "We feel pretty good just being one stroke out of the lead and look forward to tomorrow."
Sophomore
Ava Olson led the Mavericks in round as she finished the day in fifth with 75 (+3), that included three birdies. Sophomore
Emerson Garlie sits one stroke behind Olson with a 76 (+4).
Junior
Lauren Brown sits in ninth place with a 77 (+5), while senior
Samantha Youngquist posted an 80 (+8). Junior
Victoria Woytassek is in 26th place after round one with an 81 (+9) also.
Round two of the NSIC Championships is scheduled for Thursday.
