BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished in second place at the NSIC Championships Friday.
The three-round NSIC Championships were held at the Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Minnesota State finished in second place in the team standings with scores of 308-308-315--931 (+67). Wayne State finished first in the team standings as it shot a 311-312-303--926 (+62). WSC's Gaia Stancikova and Concordia-St. Paul's Addi Wood finished first in the individual standings at +8.
"The ladies played with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul today and battled hard," assistant coach
Todd Pfingsten said. "Wayne State made some putts early and late in the round to beat us. It didn't end how we wanted it to but I'm proud of our team."
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie has named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team as she finished in a tie for fifth at +16. Garlie shot an 81 in the final round, which included one birdie. Senior
Ava Olson finished one stroke behind Garlie in eighth at +17, as she posted a 79 in the final round, which included one birdie.
Senior
Samantha Youngquist finished in 10th place just one shot behind Olson at +18. Youngquist recorded a 79 in the final round. Junior
Victoria Woytassek finished in 12th place at +20 as she posted a 76 on the final day of competition. Junior
Lauren Brown tallied an 83 on the final day to finish the championships at +24 as well.
The field for the NCAA Central Regional will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday. The NCAA Central Regional will be held at the St. Joseph Country Clun in St. Joseph, Mo., from May 4-6.
