BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round two of the NSIC Championships in first place Thursday.
The three-round NSIC Championships are being held at the par-72 Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Minnesota State sits atop the team standings with scores of 308-308--616 (+40), with Concordia-St. Paul following in second place with scores of 315-307—622 (+46). Minnesota Crookston's Anaka Lysne and Wayne State's Gaia Stancikova lead the individual standings at 148 (+4).
"I'm really proud of how the women played today," assistant coach
Todd Pfingsten said. "We played in wind and some mist at times and they kept their focus and finished pretty strong. The last four holes are challenging and we played them better than yesterday. We are excited for tomorrow and the opportunity to compete for a championship."
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie shot a 75 in round two to finish the day in third place at +7, just three stroke behind the leaders. Garlie recorded a pair of birdies in the second round. Senior
Ava Olson recorded a 79 in round two, including two birdies, to finish the day at +10.
Senior
Samantha Youngquist also recorded a 75 in round two, including two birdies, to finish the round in 10th place at +11. Junior
Lauren Brown shot an 80 in the second round two finish two shots behind Youngquist at +13. Junior
Victoria Woytassek posted a 79 in the round to finish the day in 22nd place at +16 as well.
Minnesota State wraps up the NSIC Championships on Friday.
