PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team took 17th place at the NCAA Championships.
The three-round tournament at the NCAA Championships was held at the par-72 PGA National Resort. The top eight teams at the end of the three-round tournament advance on to match play for a chance to win the NCAA Championship.
"I couldn't be prouder of this group of girls," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "The seniors made the decision to stay through a coaching change and really took advantage of every opportunity. All of them should be super proud of their accomplishments this year.
"I wish the seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors and I wis Tori well as she takes the next step to Tampa to finish her college career."
As a team, Minnesota State posted scores of 317-330-329—974 (+110). Wingate finished first in the team standings with scores of 299-289-289--877 (+13). Wingate's Amely Bochaton finished first in the individual standings with scores of 68-67-68—203 (-13).
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie shot an 84 on the final day, including two birdies, to finish in 69th overall at +24. Junior
Victoria Woytassek posted an 81, which included two birdies, in the third round to finish in 81st place at +30.
Senior
Ava Olson recorded her first collegiate hole in one, and third of her playing career in the third round. Olson's hole-in-one came on the par-3 15th hole as she wrapped up the round with a 79 to finish the tournament in 83rd place at +33. He 79 in was the best third-round performance by the Mavericks.
Senior
Samantha Youngquist shot an 83 on the final day to finish in 84th at +35, with junior
Emma Berge following one stroke behind as she posted an 84 to finish the event at +36. Youngquist and Berge each recorded a birdie in their final round.
