Six Maverick Women’s Student-Athletes Named to CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team

MANKATO, Minn. --- A total of six Minnesota State women's student-athletes have been named to the CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team for their efforts this past season.

In total four Maverick women's hockey players (Kamryn Van Batavia, Kianna Roeske, Taylor Otremba, Hailey Hansen) and two Maverick women's golfers (Samantha Youngquist, Ava Olson) were named to the Academic All-District Team.

To be eligible for the academic all-district team student-athletes must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. They also must boast at least a 3.50 GPA. Hockey players must compete in 90% of the team's games or start in at least 66%. Goaltenders need to start in at least 50% of the team's games. Golfers must be in the lineup for at least 75% of team scoring events or be in the lineup for the conference championship tournament.

A junior forward from Luverne, Minn., Kamryn Van Batavia played in all 38 games for the Mavericks this past season as she tallied eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points. She ranked third on the team in points and recorded a goal in three straight games against Bemidji State (1) and Ohio State (2). Van Batavia has been named to the WCHA All-Academic Team twice and a WCHA Scholar Athlete twice. She owns a 3.91 GPA and is majoring in elementary education.

A senior defender from Paynesville, Minn., Kianna Roeske played in all 38 games for the Mavericks as she tallied three goals and seven assists for 10 points. She led the team in blocked shots with 71 and scored the first goal in MSU's 2-1 win over Minnesota Duluth in game three of their first-round series in the WCHA playoffs. Roeske has been named a WCHA Scholar Athlete three times and the WCHA All-Academic Team three times. She owns a 3.94 GPA and is majoring in applied health science.

A senior forward from Lakeville, Minn., Taylor Otremba played in all 38 games for the Mavericks as she recorded seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points. She ranked second on the team in assists and second in points. Otremba has been named a WCHA Scholar Athlete three times and was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team three times. She owns a 3.71 GPA and is double majoring in civil engineering and applied leadership.

A junior goaltender from Blaine, Minn., Hailey Hansen played and started in 34 games for the Mavericks as she put together a 14-18-2 record, that included five shutouts. She also boasted a 2.87 goals against average and a .915 save%. She was named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week twice and the WCHA Goaltender of the Month once. Hansen has been named a WCHA Scholar Athlete twice and was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team twice. She owns a 3.99 GPA and is majoring in management.

A senior from Fargo, N.D., Ava Olson competed in 10 events for the Mavericks during the 2025-26 season, including the NSIC Championships, NCAA Central Region Championships and the NCAA Championships. Olson posted two top-20 finishes, including an eighth place finish at the NSIC Championships (+17). At the regional championships, Olson finished 33rd (+23) to help MSU finish in fourth place to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2010. Olson was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team twice. She owns a 3.70 GPA and is majoring in sport management.

A senior from Eden Prairie, Minn., Samantha Youngquist was one of three Mavericks to compete in all 12 events and all 27 rounds during the 2025-26 season. She recorded seven top-20 finishes during the season, including a 10th place finish (+18) at the NSIC Championships. Youngquist finished in 23rd place (+20) at the NCAA Central Region Championships to help the Mavericks advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2010. Earlier this season she was named to the All-NSIC Second Team for her efforts. Youngquist has been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team three time. She owns a 3.82 GPA and is majoring in sport management.
