Kevin Buisman has announced that Maverick baseball coach
Matt Magers has signed a contract extension.

Matt Magers has established a standard of sustained excellence that very few programs in Division II baseball can match," said Buisman. "His consistency, competitive drive and ability to develop successful teams year after year have elevated Maverick baseball to national prominence and we are excited to continue building on that foundation with Matt leading our program into the future."
Magers just completed his 18
th season at the helm of Maverick Baseball. During his tenure, Minnesota State has played to a 715-232 (.755) record. A two-time National Coach of the Year (National Collegiate Baseball Writers of American National Coach of the Year, 2025; Rawlings/ABCA, 2012) award winner, Magers has guided the Mavericks to seven NSIC regular season championships, eight NSIC postseason championships, 16 NCAA Tournament appearances and four trips to the DII College World
Series, finishing second once (2013), third twice (2012, 2014), and seventh (2010).
Additionally, during his time the Mavericks have matched on the field success, in the classroom, earning the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award every year since 2018.

This past season, Minnesota State finished 40-16 and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
