MANKATO, Minn. --- Three Minnesota State baseball players including
Jake Berkland,
Mack Crowley and
Louis Magers have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region First Team for their efforts this past season.
The ABCA/Rawlings All-American teams will be announced on Friday.
A sophomore from Wayzata, Minn.,
Jake Berkland started in all 56 games for the Mavericks, primarily at shortstop. He posted a team-leading .366 batting average and set a team record in runs scored in a season with 82. He also led the team in hits with 74 as he notched 11 doubles, three triples and 11 home runs. Earlier this season, Berkland was named to the All-NSIC First Team, the NWBCA All-Central Region Second Team and the D2CCA All-Central Region Team.
A junior from Green Bay, Wis.,
Mack Crowley made 12 appearances and starts on the mound for the Mavericks. He posted a 7-0 record, to go along with a 2.58 ERA and 54 strikeouts, in 73.1 innings. He held opposing hitters to a .230 batting average. Against Minot State in the NSIC Tournament, Crowley threw a nine-inning shutout as he struck out four batters. Earlier this season, Crowley was named to the All-NSIC Second Team.
A senior from Mankato, Minn.,
Louis Magers played and started in all 56 games for the Mavericks, splitting time as a first baseman, designated hitter and pitcher. Mager batted .286 and was tied for the team lead in home runs with 16 and in runs batted in with 65. He also coaxed 34 walks and scored 49 runs. Earlier this season, Magers was named to the All-NSIC First Team, to go with All-Central Region First Team honors with D2CCA and NWBCA.
