Box Score JOPLIN, Mo. --- #11 Minnesota State went in to extra innings Saturday against McKendree, but it was the Bearcats that were able to come away with the 5-4 win in 11 innings.
With the loss, MSU drops to 1-1 on the season. With the win, McKendree improves to 2-3.
Senior
Louis Magers (0-1) took the loss as he allowed one unearned run in relief. Owen Dunn (1-0) picked up the win as he threw two innings, setting down all six batters he faced. Junior
Daniel Zang threw six innings in relief for the Mavericks as he struck out 12 batters, while giving up just one hit and three walks.
After a scoreless first inning, the Mavericks scored a pair of runs in the top of the second to take a 2-0 lead. A pair of walks to senior

Pambos Nicoloudes put runners on first and second with one out. A flyout and a wild pitch moved the runners up a base, before a single from freshman
Sam Haugen plated both runners.
MSU added another run in the top of the third to increase its lead to 3-0. Singles from Nicoloudes and senior
Logan Miller put runners on first and second before a fielding error by the second baseman allowed Nicoloudes to come around to score. The Bearcats were able to answer back in the bottom of the third as McKendree led off with a pair of singles, before a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up to second and third. Sage McMinn then drove in the runner from third with a ground out to second to cut MSU's lead to 3-1.
McKendree's Gavin Arseneau tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth as he drove in a pair of runs with RBI-double. An inning later, the Bearcats took their first lead of the game as McMinn stole home to put McKendree up 4-3.
Still training 4-3 heading in to the top of the ninth, Yearsley led of the inning with a walk and eventually came around to score on three wild pitches to tie the game at 4-4 with just one out. The Mavericks managed to get runners on second and third with two outs, but the Bearcats would get the final out to keep the score even.
The game remained tied 4-4 into the bottom of the 11th where Gavin Arseneau led of the inning with a double. The Mavericks managed to get the next batter to fly out, but an error at shortstop on the next play allowed Arseneau to round the bases to score the game-winning run.
Minnesota State continues its season on Sunday as it takes on Indianapolis at Warren turner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
