Dickerman and Altmann Named to 2026 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today the full staff that will support its 2026 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team during the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Milan, and two familiar faces from Minnesota State will be behind the bench. 

Maverick head coach Shari Dickerman returns to Team USA's coaching staff for her fourth season, while former Minnesota State goaltender and assistant coach Alli Altmann will serve as the team's goaltending coach. 

Dickerman, now in her second season as head coach at Minnesota State, has been part of the Mavericks' staff since 2009. She has also been an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2023, 2024, and 2025 IIHF Women's World Championships, helping guide the U.S. to a pair of gold medals (2023, 2025 and a silver medal (2024). 

Altmann served as an assistant coach for the Mavericks during the 2023–24 season and brings extensive experience coaching goaltenders within USA Hockey at multiple international levels, including the Rivalry Series and the IIHF World Championships. 

As a player, Altmann competed for Minnesota State from 2008–12, posting an .888 career save percentage and setting the program record for most games played (110). A three-time WCHA All-Academic honoree, she helped lead the Mavericks to their first-ever WCHA Final Faceoff appearance in 2009. Altmann has served as the goaltending coach for a variety of national teams including the last four Women's World Championship 

Dickerman becomes the second Maverick coach to serve as a member of the national staff. Former Minnesota State men's coach Mike Hastings was an assistant for the US Men's National team at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.  

Team USA will depart for Edmonton on Dec. 7 for the next two games of the Rivalry Series before returning on Dec. 14. The U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team will open Olympic competition on Feb. 5 against Czechia in Milan. 

The Mavericks (10-7-1) host St. Cloud State in a WCHA series this weekend. Game times are 3:02 p.m., Friday and 2:02 p.m., Saturday.
