MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State baseball alum Aaron Rozek was selected by the New York Mets in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday (Dec. 10).

Rozek held a 4.46 earned run average with 102 strikeouts last season playing with St. Paul (AAA) and Wichita (AA) in the Minnesota Twins organization.

Rozek played for Minnesota State from 2014-18. He made 48 appearances and totaled 185.2 innings, 94 strikeouts, three complete games and a 20-4 record.

Rozek, a four-year letterwinner for Minnesota State, earnedÂ
ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Region Second Team honors as a senior in 2018. He posted a 7-3 won-loss record and a 2.51 earned run average in 2018 while walking 30 and striking out 94 batters in 75 1/3 innings pitched in 12 appearances. Named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team as a senior, Rozek was namedÂ
NSIC Pitcher of the Week two times in 2018. He earned
 All-NSIC First Team recognition andÂ
NCBWA All-Region Second Team honors in 2017. He was a member of one NSIC regular-season championship team, one NSIC post-season tournament championship team and a member of three NCAA tournament teams.

The minor league phase of the rule 5 Draft allows teams to select unprotected minor leaguers from other organizations for a fee, adding them to their farm system without any of the strict MLB roster rules that apply to the Major League phase. Rozek signed with the Minnesota Twins organization in June of 2021 after completing his collegiate career.
