MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State baseball head coach
Matt Magers has announced the addition of 11 recruits during the fall signing period.
All signings are contingent upon admission to Minnesota State and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
The Mavericks finished the 2025 campaign with a 51-8 overall record and won NSIC regular season and tournament championships.
"This group is a great fit for Maverick Baseball, a group we believe can continue our tradition of success," Magers said. "They're strong students, athletic, and the type of competitors we want in our program. We expect them to add depth and make an immediate impact on our roster. We're excited to watch their development and see how they elevate our program. This class reflects the quality and competitiveness we aim to attract each year."
Matthew Berkland | 5-10 | Catcher/Infield | Plymouth, Minn. | Wayzata | R/R
Berkland comes to the Mavericks from Wayzata High School, where he was named all-conference and all-section as an upperclassman. During the 2025 high school season, Berkland had a .386 average with a .487 OBP. He is the son of MaryBeth and Jon. His mother, MaryBeth played volleyball at Lawrence University and his father, Jon played baseball at Embry-Riddle University. Berkland is undecided on a major of study at Minnesota State. His younger brother, Jake is a sophomore infielder at MSU and older brother, Drew is an outfielder at Notre Dame. Played Club Ball with GRB Northstar.
Coach McIntee on Berkland: "Matthew is a leader on and off the field and someone we knew early in the process as a guy we wanted in our program. He represents everything we really value as a recruit. He's tough, driven, and has a winning mindset. Offensively, he's a high-level hitter who brings an advanced approach with the ability to really drive the ball gap to gap. His position versatility is something we're really excited about and can't wait to see him develop once he gets on campus."
Kashton Bodden | 6-0 | Infield | Lakeville, Minn. | Lakeville South | L/R
Bodden is a middle infielder, who plays for Lakeville South High School and was an all-conference honorable mention as a junior. During the 2025 summer season, Bodden hit .456 with nine doubles, and two triples. Bodden's parents are Matthew and Crystal. His father, Matthew played football at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He intends to study Business at Minnesota State. Played Club Ball with MASH.
Coach McIntee on Bodden: "Kash is a competitor who knows how to win. He's got great bat-to-ball skills, competes with confidence and brings a championship mentality to everything he does. He has good feet and hands on the infield and brings the position versatility we really wanted in this recruiting class. Kash is someone who fits perfectly with the culture and standards of our program."
JT Graupmann | 6-2 | Pitcher | Northfield, Minn. | Northfield | R/R
Graupmann, a right-handed pitcher, earned All-State, all-section, and all-conference baseball as a junior in the spring throwing 43.1 innings with 62 strikeouts and 13 walks. He was also a 3-year starter on the basketball team and a two-time all-district honoree in football as a quarterback. Graupmann is the son of Chris and Emileana. His father, Chris, played baseball at Minnesota State from 1999-03 and Grandpa, Tom, played baseball at Minnesota State from 1976-1980. He plans to study Business at MSU. Played Club Ball with HTP.
Coach McIntee on Graupmann: "JT is an athletic multi-sport athlete who brings a strong competitiveness to the baseball field. He is a consistent strike thrower that we feel is just scratching the surface of his potential. His ability to locate the fastball and throw breaking pitches in any count will allow him to have success on the mound."
Brody Illa | 5-11 | Pitcher | Eagan, Minn. | Eagan | R/R
Ill was a four-year letter winner at Eagan High School. Illa was named all-section twice as well as all-conference honorable mention. During the 2025 season, Illa threw 63 innings with 62 strikeouts and 16 walks. An excellent student, Illa plans to major in Exercise Science at Minnesota State. He is the son of Ryan and Patrice. Played Club Ball with MASH.
Coach McIntee on Illa: "Brody continues the tradition of successful players coming from Eagan High School. Brody has a great combination of a relentless work ethic with a strong desire to win. On the mound he consistently hits his spots and can throw any pitch in any count. With his strong competitiveness and bulldog type approach on the mound we're really excited to get him to campus."
Owen McLellan | 5-10 | Infield | Shorewood, Wis. | Shorewood | R/R
McLellan, a middle infielder, was named second team all-conference as a freshman and first team all-conference his next two seasons at Shorewood High School. During the 2025 high school season McLellan hit .408 with .563 OBP and 38 stolen bases. He was also honorable mention all-district. McLellan is the son of Sandra and Thomas. He intends to study Business Management at Minnesota State. Played Club Ball with Prospect Training Academy.
Coach McIntee on McLellan: "Owen is a premier defender on the infield who has elite instincts, great range and plays the game with confidence and speed. He's versatile, fearless and as competitive as they come. He plays with an edge that raises the level of everyone around him. Offensively he's a high on base guy who knows how to use his speed to create havoc on the bases."
Samuel Mohs | 5-10 | Infield | Plymouth, Minn. | Wayzata | L/R
Mohs competes for Wayzata High School, where he was named all-conference as a junior in baseball.
During the 2025 high school season Mohs hit .378 with a .519 OPS, 32 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. Also, a basketball athlete, Mohs was honorable mention all-conference and a state champion as a junior. Moh's parents are Michael and Dawn. His father, Michael played baseball at St. John's University (Minn.). Played Club Ball with GRB Northstar.
Coach McIntee on Mohs: "Sam is an explosive athlete who plays the game fast. His speed and athleticism really stand out when you watch him play and he brings energy every time he's on the field. He is the kind of dynamic player who can affect the game in a variety of ways. Sam is just scratching the surface of how good he can be and we're very excited to get him in purple and gold."
Logan Nistler | 6-3 | Pitcher | Andover, Minn. | Andover High School | R/R
Nistler was named honorable mention all-conference as a junior at Andover High School finishing the spring at the Class AAAA state tournament. During the 2025 season, Logan threw 63.2 innings with 82 strikeouts. The son of Shawn and Jenny, Nistler plans to major in Finance at Minnesota State. His father, Shawn, played baseball at Mount Marty. Played Club Ball with Blizzard.
Coach McIntee on Nistler: "Logan is an exciting addition to our pitching staff. He's an athletic kid with a great frame who always wants the ball. On the mound he has good arm speed with a live fastball and swing-and-miss stuff. He has all the tools to develop into a high-impact pitcher."
Evan Nordby | 6-2 | Pitcher | Champlin, Minn. | Champlin Park | R/R
Nordby is a right-handed pitcher who competes for Champlin Park High School. He was named all-conference as a junior throwing 63 innings with a 1.50 ERA while his team placed third in Minnesota State Class AAAA in the spring. He is the son of Travis and Jennifer and plans to major in Aviation at Minnesota State. Played Club Ball with P2P – Millers.
Coach McIntee on Nordby: "Evan comes to us from a very successful high school program and know how to win. His competitiveness and desire to succeed really stood out throughout the recruiting process. That bulldog type mentality along with his great frame and ability to pound the strike zone will give him the capability to make an impact on our pitching staff."
CJ Schmidt | 6-1 | Pitcher | Lakeville, Minn. | Lakeville North | L/L
Schmidt boasted a top ten earned run average, 1.31, in the state of Minnesota and was named honorable mention all-conference for Lakeville North High School after throwing 48 innings with 55 strikeouts and only 11 walks. He is the son of Holly and Jake. His father Jake also played baseball. He is majoring in Finance at Minnesota State. Played Club Ball with MASH.
Coach McIntee on Schmidt: "CJ is a highly athletic left-handed pitcher with tremendous upside. He has an advanced feel for pitching with the ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes. He's ultra-competitive, attacks the strike zone and loves the big moments."
Brayden Skindelien | 5-11 | Pitcher | New London, Minn. | New London-Spicer | R/R
Skindelien was a member of the all-tournament team at the Class C Amateur State Tournament as a junior for the Regal Eagles. During the summer of 2025, Skindelien had a .340 average with four doubles and 11 stolen bases. He led his team in batting average as a sophomore and was named all-conference at New London-Spicer High School. He intends to study Finance at Minnesota State.
Coach McIntee on Skindelien: Brayden plays the game with a competitive edge and aggressive style we look. His athleticism and baseball tools will allow him to play several positions on the field. At the plate he has good bat control and can impact the game in a variety of ways using his speed to put pressure on teams. His passion for the game is infectious and consistently elevates the play of everyone around him."
Van Vogler | 6-0 | Infield | Sun Prairie, Wis. | Sun Prairie | R/R
Vogler was a baseball and football player at Sun Prairie High School. As a middle infielder, Vogler was named first team all-conference and second team all-region as a junior. During the 2025 high school season, Vogler his .378 with five doubles, and 18 stolen bases. The previous spring, he was honorable mention all-conference. In football, Vogler earned defensive back of the year and first team all-conference and all-region. He is the son of Brian and Beth. His father, Brian played football at Winona State University. He lists Business as his intended major at Minnesota State. Played Club Ball with GRB Green.
Coach McIntee on Vogler: "Van is a multi-sport athlete who plays with the competitive edge. Van comes from a winning environment, so he knows what it takes. Defensively, he brings versatility and speed, which will allow him to play all over the field. At the plate, he can drive the baseball to all fields and has excellent instincts on the bases. His athleticism and offensive ability make him a real weapon for us."
