Former Mavericks Lucy Weninger Signing a pro contract

Lucy Weninger signs a pro contract with Omonia Women’s Football Team

MANKATO, Minn – Lucy was a Maverick all five years of her college career. In 2022 she was named all NSIC Academic Team, and in 2023 she posted two assists and two points.  Weninger helped the Mavericks go 18-2-7 during the 2024 season and make their first appearance in the NCAA Final Four and NCAA Division II National Championship game in Matthews, North Carolina against Cal Poly Pomona. She was First Team USC All-America, First Team CCA All-America, First Team USC All-Central Region, First Team CCA All-Central Region, First Team All-NSIC, NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, and NSIC All-Academic in 2024. Weninger led the team with 2,346 minutes played and led a defensive group which led the country with nine goals against in 27 games. She played the full time in the NCAA Division II National quarterfinal and semifinal wins vs. Grand Valley State and Columbus State respectively.

Omonia Women's Football Team is one of the most successful womens team in Cyprus. They play in the first division and just won the Super Cup. Lucy made her professional debut on October 4th against Lakatamia FC where she played 10 minutes at center back and helped secure a 3-0 win and shutout. Lucy is the 3rd Maverick Soccer player to sign a professional contract joining the ranks of Jenny Vetter and Mackenzie Rath
