MARSHALL, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished the Mustang Invitational in third place Sunday afternoon.
The Mavericks posted 302-298--600 (+24) to finish in third place. As a team, Augustana finished first at the event with a 297-295—592 (+16). Augustana's Masyn Mock led the field individually as she posted a 73-69—142 (-2).
"We were really proud of the girls this weekend," assistant coach
Todd Pfingston said. They went in with good spirits and played hard.
"Considering we started five strokes back and managed to creep into the lead in the middle of our round really shows what we are capable of. I look forward to what the girls have to show in the next few tournaments."
Sophomore
Victoria Woytassek paced the Mavericks as she finished in a tie for third as she shot 72-72—144 (E) for the tournament. Junior
Sammy Youngquist shot 78-70—148 (+4) to finish in eighth, with junior
Ava Olson following right behind in ninth with a 74-75—149 (+5). Graduate student
Kelly Winter posted a 78-81—159 (+15), while sophomore
Emma Berge tallied an 82-82—164 (+20).
Freshman
Aly Blomberg set the pace for the Maverick "B" team as she shot 71-76---147 (+3) to finish seventh. Freshman
Emerson Garlie finished 17th with a 74-79—153 (+9), while junior
Lauren Rebrovich (78-79—157) and freshman
Mila Jenniges (79-78—157) finished 24th with a +13. Sophomore
Whitney Mullenbach finished in a tied for 32nd with score of 80-80—160 (+16) as well.
Minnesota State returns to action on Oct. 7 as it takes part in the NCAA Regional Preview at Kicking Bird Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.
