Box Score 2 MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State (16-11, 12-5 NSIC) split its Friday doubleheader against Minot State (9-18, 6-11) dropping game one 7-3 and routing the Beavers 13-3 in game two at Boywer Field.
Minnesota State lost control of game one early giving up seven runs in the first five innings. Junior
Aidan Byrne broke Minot State's shutout in the bottom of the fifth driving in senior
Ryan Friedges on a single to left field for his 30th RBI of the season.
The Mavericks added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out rally courtesy of four walks and a balk but could not catch the Beaver's six-run lead.
In game two of Friday's home opener, the Mavericks offense exploded for five hits and two walks resulting in five first-inning tallies. Minnesota State knocked out Minot State starting pitcher Trevyn Badger in the third inning after the Mavericks added three more for an 8-1 lead.
The Mavericks would conclude their scoring onslaught in the bottom of the sixth scoring four more runs to give the Mavericks a 10-run lead. Junior
Mitch Gutknecht would finish off the Beavers in the top of the seventh delivering the Mavericks' 16th win on the season.

Lincoln Berry led the Mavericks offensive push in today's doubleheader going 3-4 at the plate scoring two runs to go along with a team-high five RBI. Sophomore
Matthew Fleischhacker and Byrne dominated at the plate combining for seven hits, two runs, and five RBI on the day.
Freshman
Cale Haugen (3-1) collected his third win on the season after going four innings allowing three runs while collecting four strikeouts on the afternoon.
"It was exciting for everyone to be back playing in front of our fans at Bowyer Field," head coach
Matt Magers stated. "In game one, we were unable to get anything going offensively due to starting pitching keeping us off balance. In game two, we were able to string together numerous big innings delivering us the win." Â
Minnesota State is back in action tomorrow for its second doubleheader against Minot State starting at noon at Bowyer Field.
