Des Moines, Iowa – The #11 Minnesota State men's track & field team closed competition for the week as the Drake Relays men's champions with 30 points competition for the week as the Drake Relays men's champions with 30 points, en route to claiming the Drake Relays Cup.
The Drake Relays Cup is awarded to the school which scores the most points in there 4x100, 4x400, 4x800, sprint medley and distance medley relay teams.

Playing a big role in this victory was the 4x100m team composed of sophomore
Armondo Colome, junior
Prince Nti, junior
Nicolas Sharma, and sophomore
Ezekiel Clarke. With a time of 41.28, the team finished in first, bringing in 10 team points.

Adding another eight points toward the team win was the 4x400m relay squad. Sophomore
Marvin Dure, sophomore
Junior Pontes Da Veiga, senior
Kenry Atubel, and freshman
Qai Hussey marked a time of 3:11.50. They rank 16th in the nation currently and sixth on the MSU all-time top performances list.

The final deciding factor was the distance medley relay team of sophomore
Adam Bohm, Dure, junior
Maquanet Collins, and senior
Ben Schmied. The group finished in seventh with a time of 10:12.24 to give the team two more points.

In individual events, junior
James Gilbert placed sixth in the championship long jump bracket with a jump of 7.00 m (22' 11.75"). Also competing in a collegiate long jump bracket was sophomore
Slade Heald, finishing in ninth with a mark of 6.90 m (22' 7.75").

Carson Dittel placed second in the pole vault event with a vault of 5.01 m (16' 5.25").

Finishing out the day in the 800m dash, junior
Tanner Maier ran a 1:51.15, good for sixth place.

The Mavericks compete at home for the first time this season hosting the Maverick Open #1 on Wednesday, May 3rd.
