Moore Wins National Championships in 110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles

EMPORIA, Kan. --- Minnesota State's Rinaldo Moore claimed a pair of NCAA Championships in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles events on the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Men

As a team, the Minnesota State men's track and field team finished in fourth place in the team standings with 44 points. This is the highest the Mavericks have finished at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, passing its previous best of seventh place back in 2015.

Rinaldo Moore won the 110m hurdles event with a time of 13.52 (MSU record) and the 400m hurdles event with a personal best time of 50.25 (MSU record). Moore is the second Maverick in team history to win a national championship in the 110m hurdles event joining Myles Hunter who previously won the event back in 2016 and 2019. Moore is the first Maverick to win a national championship in the 400m hurdles event, surpassing Sydne Davis' second place finish back in 2019.

Moore is also the second Maverick in program history to win a national championship in two events during the same NCAA outdoor championship. Emmanuel Matadi won national championships in the 100m and 200m events during the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The 110m hurdles event also saw Kenjuan Hampton follow Moore in second place with a time of 13.79. Hamton, along with Moore and Hunter, are the only three Mavericks to finish second or better in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Championships.

The Maverick 4x400m relay team of Moore, Hampton, Marenono Opiew and Qai Hussey secured All-American honors as they finished in fourth place with a time of 3:06.44. This is the fourth time in team history that the Mavericks have earned All-American honors in the 4x400m relay event and the third time that they have finished fourth in the event, with the most recent time coming in 2018.

Hayden Bills earned All-American Second Team honors in the shot put event as he took 13th place with a throw of 17.24m (56-6.5). Dylan Gross finished in 21st place in the shot put event as well with a throw of 16.29m (53-5.5).

In the triple jump Sheldon McNicholas and Abagotte Opiew finished in 18th and 19th place, respectively. McNicholas posted a jump of 14.62m (47-11.75), while Opiew recorded a jump of 14.59m (47-10.5).

 
Women

As a team, the Minnesota State women's track and field team finished in a tie for eighth place in the team standings with 24.5 points. This is the ninth time in team history that the Mavericks have finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Lillian Washington earned All-American honors in the high jump event as she finished in sixth place with a personal best jump of 1.72m (5-7.75). Washington is the fourth Maverick to earn All-American honors in the outdoor high jump event in team history.
