Mankato, Minn--- Minnesota State dropped its final two games against St. Cloud State as it received the sixth seed in the WCHA Playoffs. The Mavericks are in search of their first postseason series win since the 2008-09 season.
Due Up:
Minnesota State travels to Madison, Wis., this weekend to face off with No. 6 ranked Wisconsin for the opening round of the WCHA playoffs. The Badgers finished the season (23-9-2, 19-7-2 WCHA) while claiming the third seed in the WCHA playoffs.

Minnesota State (15-18-1, 9-18-1 WCHA) dropped both games at St. Cloud State (L, 6-3 & L, 5-2) to finish the regular season.
The Mavericks got the scoring started early on Friday as junior
Jamie Nelson found the back of the net at the 11:14 mark of the first period for her fifth goal on the season giving the Mavericks the early lead.
The Huskies answered with a four-goal second period as SCSU forward
Klara Hymlarova led the charge for SCSU notching two in the period.
The Mavericks fought back scoring two third-period goals off the sticks of forwards
Kelsey King for her team-leading 14th goal of the season and
Madison Mashuga for her ninth goal of the season cutting the Huskies' lead to 5-3.
St. Cloud would clinch the game with an empty-net goal sealing the game at 6-3.
Splitting action Friday, junior
Lauren Barbro and senior
Alexa Berg combined for 28 saves on 33 shots faced. Barbro took the loss dropping to 7-10-0 on the season.
The Mavericks opened Saturday allowing four unanswered goals to start the game. It wasn't until sophomore
Alexis Paddington stopped the Huskies' momentum at the 16:55 mark of the second period for her ninth goal on the season.
Senior
Brooke Bryant found the net in the final four minutes of the game for her seventh on the year, cutting the Huskies lead by three as St. Cloud State held on for a 5-2 advantage.
Senior
Alexa Berg saw all the minutes in Saturday's game saving 24 of 29 shots on net while seeing her record fall to 8-8-1 on the season.
Taking on UW:
The Badgers lead the all-time series 3-99-3 against the Mavericks. The Badgers' offense is led by junior
Casey O'Brian who has accumulated 40 points in 34 games.
In goal, UW relies on its platoon of senior
Cami Kronish and sophomore
Jane Gervais, who have registered over 11 starts this season. The pair owns a 1.64 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
