MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State (4-9-1, 4-9-1 WCHA) plays host to Bemidji State (2-8-2, 2-8-2 WCHA) this weekend for a pair of Western Collegiate Hockey Association games at 6:07 p.m., Friday and 3:07 p.m., Saturday.
Minnesota State All-Time
Minnesota State, which began play in 1998-99, is in its 23rd season of competition and has compiled a 200-512-71 (.255) record in 783 total games played. The Mavericks are in their 22nd year as members in the WCHA and hold a 105-405-56 (.185) record in 566 conference games played.
Facing Bemidji State
The Mavericks hold an all-time record of 16-69-11 against Bemidji State. This season, the Mavericks are 3-0-1 vs. the Beavers with a three-game win streak in the series.
King's Throne
Sophomore forward Kelsey King led the Mavericks last time out with two points at Ohio State. The Elk River, Minn., native assisted on MSU's first goal of the weekend before recording an unassisted goal in the Mavericks' 7-2 loss to the Buckeyes last Saturday. Against the Beavers, King leads the Mavericks with three goals and two assists for five points this season. King is tied with freshman forward Jamie Nelson atop Minnesota State's scoring chart, with both wingers sporting 5-4--9 lines this season.
Mighty Fine Freshman
With 5-4--9 and 19 blocked shots this season, Jamie Nelson is currently second in the WCHA's freshmen scoring standings and first on the rookie shot-blocking list. Among NCAA newcomers this season, Nelson is tied for sixth in the points race and tied with King for MSU scoring leader.
The Captain
Minnesota State defenseman Anna Wilgren is third in the WCHA and fifth in the nation among shot blockers this season with 35 blocks in 14 games. Last weekend, Wilgren led MSU in shots blocked with six vs. OSU. The Hudson, Wis., native leads MSU's defensive-end scoring with 1-4--5 from the blue line this season.
Fabulous Frank
Last time out vs. BSU, MSU's sophomore goaltender Calla Frank was named WCHA Goaltender of the Week (Jan. 8-9). The Hugo, Minn., native, who stands 3-7-1 after last weekend's series at Ohio State, backstopped the Mavericks first series sweep over Bemidji State since 2008 and earned her first shutout of the season (third of career) in MSU's 4-0 win, Jan. 9. Last weekend, Frank stopped a career-high 52 shots in MSU's 3-0 loss to Ohio State on Friday. Frank holds a .909 save percentage and 2.98 goals against average this season.
Fleming Finishes
Senior forward Brittyn Fleming is Minnesota State's active career scoring leader with 23-41--64 in 120 games as a Maverick. Fleming's 41 career helpers puts her in a tie for 10th with Corbin Boyd (2015-18) on the Mavericks' all-time assist leaders chart. Against Bemidji State this season, Fleming has put up four points with a pair of goals and assists over four games. The Oregon, Wis, native leads MSU shooting percentage this season at a .148 mark.
Mashuga Doesn't Miss
Freshman forward Madison Mashuga has been a menace to the Beavers this season. In four games vs. BSU, the Andover, Minn., native has two goals and one assist for three points. Mashuga has been MSU's most efficient shooter against BSU with two goals on seven shots for a .286 shot percentage. With a +4 rating against BSU, the Maverick rookie is tied with junior defenseman Taylor Wemple for best rating against the Beavers this season.
How About Them Apples?
Brooke Bryant, Claire Butorac, King, Jamie Nelson and Wilgren lead the Mavericks in assists this season with four helpers each. In the Jan. 8-9 series at BSU, no MSU player had a multi-assist showing over the weekend. In total, 10 different Mavericks had an assist as MSU skated to 2-1 and 4-0 wins over Bemidji State.

In their next action, the Mavericks travel to St. Cloud State to take on the Huskies, Feb. 5-6.
