MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks women's hockey team resumes conference-play action this weekend with its first road series of the season. The Mavericks (0-2-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) take on the St. Cloud State (0-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center at 6:07 p.m. Friday and 3:07 p.m. Saturday.
Minnesota State All-Time
Minnesota State, which started in 1998-99, is in its 23rd season of competition and has compiled a 196-505-70 (.254) record in 771 total games played. The Mavericks are in their 22nd year as members in the WCHA and hold a 101-398-55 (.182) record in 554 games played.Â

Scouting St. Cloud
St. Cloud State returns senior goaltender Emma Polusny, who averages three goals against per game and a .920 save pct. in her career. Last season, Polusny held a 5-21-4 record with a pair of shutouts. The Huskies top scorer from a season ago, sophomore forward Klara Hymlarova, is returning after posting eight goals and 18 helpers for 26 points a season ago to lead the Huskies' offense. Last season, St. Cloud State had a 6-21-4 (2-21-1 WCHA) record, while finishing seventh in the WCHA.Â

Facing the Huskies
The Mavericks hold an all-time record of 35-43-13 against St. Cloud State in a series that dates back to Nov. 21, 1998. Last season, the Mavericks went 3-1-1 vs. the Huskies, outscoring the in-state rival 13-8 over the course of five games. The Mavericks hold a 18-23-5 all-time record against the Huskies in games played in St. Cloud.

Bouncing Back
Last weekend, the Mavericks opened the season at home with a series against #8 Minnesota Duluth, dropping games by 5-0 and 7-3 decisions to the Bulldogs over the weekend.

Not the Norm
Minnesota State's 0-2 start marks the first time being swept in an opening series since the 2014-15 season when the Mavericks dropped a pair of games to North Dakota (5-0, 2-1) at All Seasons Arena in Mankato.

Mighty Madison
Junior forward Madison Oelkers had the biggest showing offensively last weekend for the Mavericks. The left-handed winger put up a game-tying goal and go-ahead assist in Saturday's affair. She leads the team with a pair of points following the first week of the season.

The Bobber
Sophomore forward Kennedy Bobyck scored Minnesota State's first goal of the season, Saturday. The Regina, Sask., native, who has 3-6--9 in 39 games played, put four shots on net over the weekend.

King Kelsey
Sophomore forward Kelsey King scored the Mavericks' first go-ahead goal of the season Saturday and led Minnesota State shooting with six shots on net over the weekend.

Fearless Front-Line
Maverick forwards blocked more shots (14) than any other team's forwards in the WCHA last weekend. Freshman Sydney Langseth led the charge for MSU forwards with four blocks over the weekend.

Looking Ahead
Minnesota State heads to Bemidji State after this week to take on the Beavers at the Sanford Center for its first series of December.
