Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey returns to Mankato Civic Center to face the #9 Ohio State Buckeyes. Games will be played on Friday and Saturday with the puck being dropped at 2:07 p.m., both days.
 
Minnesota State All-Time: The MSU women's hockey program, which started in 1998-99, is currently in its 22nd season of competition and has compiled a 187-487-64 (.297) record in 738 total games played. The Mavericks are in their 21st year as members in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and hold a 114-387-51 (.253) record in 552 games played.
Last Time on the Ice: Minnesota State (2-4-0, 0-4-0-0 WCHA) was swept by then-No. 9 Minnesota Duluth in in a road series at Amsoil Arena. The Mavericks lost both games by the scores of 3-2 (OT) and 3-0.
In game one, sophomore winger 
Claire Butorac scored her second goal of the season past the Bulldog netminder in the first period with junior forward 
Mallorie Iozzo, a former Bulldog, collecting an assist. With less than a minute remaining in the second period, senior forward 
Sydney Brodt for UMD tied the score up at one. The Mavericks regained the lead in the third period when senior winger 
Emily Antony picked up a loose puck off a rebound and put it in the back of the net. The Bulldogs eventually tied the game up in the third period and won the game in overtime with goals from sophomore forward 
Gabbie Hughes and the game winner from Brodt.
In game two, the Bulldogs were the first to score as junior winger 
Anna Klein went five-hole against the Maverick goaltender in the first period. In the second period, UMD extended its lead to 3-0 with goals from Hughes and junior winger 
Ashton Bell. Minnesota Duluth scored its fourth goal of the game in the third period as junior forward 
Monique Anderson scored the goal. The Mavericks scored their lone goal of the game in the third period when sophomore winger 
Madison Oelkers scored her first goal of the season with the help of junior forward 
Brittyn Fleming and junior blueliner 
Jessica Kondas.
In net, sophomore 
Abigail Levy (1-2-0) made the start in game one, making 43 saves and allowing three goals. Freshman 
Calla Frank (1-2-0) made 34 saves in game two, while allowing four goals.
 
Reaching 50: Senior 
Emily Antony (18-32--50) became the 20th student-athlete in program history to reach the 50-point plateau. Antony achieved the feat when she scored in game one against Minnesota Duluth in the third period.
Personal Bests: Abigail Levy finished with a career-high 43 saves in her game one start, while 
Calla Frank finished with a career-high 34 saves in game two. Freshman blueliner 
Charlotte Akervik also had her first multi-point performance, collecting two assists in game one.
Seeking 50: Junior 
Brittyn Fleming (14-27--41) is now looking to become the 21st student-athlete in program history to reach the 50-point plateau. Emily Antony achieved the feat this season and 
Corbin Boyd (15-41-56) was able to achieve this feat last season becoming the 19th student-athlete to do so.
Scouting Ohio State: The Buckeyes (4-2-0, 2-2-0 WCHA) most recently were swept by No. 1 Wisconsin. OSU dropped both games 3-0 and then 7-3.
The Buckeye offense is led by junior forward 
Emma Maltais early on, who leads them in goals and points with a 5-5--10 stat line. Junior forward 
Liz Schepers is second on the team in points with seven on four goals and three assists so far this season.
In net, Ohio State features sophomore 
Andrea Braendli. Braendli (4-2-0) has made all six starts for OSU and has a 2.69 GAA, .897 save percentage and 139 saves on the season.
Facing Ohio State: All-time, the Mavericks are 14-66-8 against the Buckeyes. In the pervious matchup last season, MSU was swept in the WCHA First Round series at the end of last season. OSU won both games by the scores of 3-2 (OT) and 3-0.
 
Looking Ahead: Minnesota State will head to St. Cloud, Minn., to face St. Cloud State in WCHA action. Games will be on Oct. 25-26 with puck dropping at 3:07 p.m., on Friday and 2:07 p.m., on Saturday.
