Foreshadowing: The No. 6 Mavericks are on a hot streak after last weekend, winning six-straight games with five shutouts and outscoring their opposition 24-1 during that stretch. Minnesota State is set to open their fourth weekend in a row vs. NSIC competition vs. Minot State on Saturday and U-Mary on Sunday. Kickoff for both games is set for 1:00 p.m. at The Pitch.
Looking Back at Last Week: MSU was able to pick up two more wins on the season against NSIC oppositions MSU- Moorhead and Northern State (S.D.) by scores of 5-0 and 5-1. After the two victories, the Mavericks increased their record to 9-1-0 on the season and 7-0-0 vs. Northern Sun competition.

Korey Kronforst (Cary, Ill.) was just one of many marquee players over the weekend for Minnesota State. Kronforst led the Mavericks offense totaling 12 points in the two weekend matchups. The Cary, Ill., native netted a natural hattrick vs. MSU- Moorhead and added two assists to tally eight points. Then, on Sunday vs. Northern State, Kronforst found the back of the new twice more, including the game winner. Adding to Minnesota State's offensive fire power was junior
Kiana Nickel (Wayzata, Minn.) tallying two goals and an assist,
Dana Savino (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) who produced a goal and an assist, and sophomore
Lexi Pszanka (Rapid City, S.D.) who added three helpers on the weekend.
Can't Stop 'Em: Through the first 10 matches of 2015, the Mavericks have out scored their opposition by a total of 38-4 and 27-1 in the NSIC. MSU also leads the conference in nearly every statistical category. The Mavericks are scoring an average of 3.8 goals/game and allowing 0.40 per game while the next closest team (Minot State) is averaging 2.1 goals/game and No. 20 Augustana is allowing 0.50 goals per game. Minnesota State is also out scoring their opposition by an average of 3.4 goals per game margin while the next closest team (Minot State) is at a 1.40 margin. MSU is also leading the conference in shots (244), save percentage (.923), points per game (11.60), and assists per game (4).
Scouting the Beavers: Minot State has an overall record of 9-1 on the season and is 7-0 in conference play. The Beavers come off a weekend in which they shutout Winona State by a score of 4-0 and beat Upper Iowa 2-1.
Head coach Jason Spain is in his 6th season at the helm of the Beavers program and holds a record of 61-65-11. Junior Ninfa Ramirez leads the Beavers in scoring with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. Juniors Chloe Melton and Emilie Rebelo each have eight points with Melton scoring three goals and Rebelo scoring two. MISU is outscoring its opponents 21-7 are averaging 14.4 shots per game.
Inside the MSU vs. MISU Series: The meeting between the Mavericks and the Beavers will be their sixth all-time. MSU has never lost to MISU, posting a record of 4-0-1 in a series that dates back to 2012. MSU won the last meeting between the two by a score of 3-1 in 2014.
Scouting the Marauders: The University of Mary comes into the weekend with an overall record of 1-7-1 and are 1-6 in the NSIC. The Marauders were shutout in a pair of matches against Upper Iowa and Winona State last weekend by scores of 2-0 and 1-0, respectively.
Head coach Sarah Cook is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Marauders and has a record of 21-33-9. Junior Megan Searson is leading the Marauders with eight points in scoring four goals this season while freshman Caylin Cathey is right behind her with four points in scoring two goals.
Inside the MSU vs. U-Mary Series: This weekend's matchup will be the 10th meeting between the two programs. The Mavericks have never lost to the Marauders and are 7-0-2 all-time against them.
Program History: The 2015 season marks the 21st year of women's soccer as a varsity sport at Minnesota State. MSU claimed its third-straight NSIC regular-season championship, last year after capturing NCC regular-season crowns in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2007. The Mavericks currently hold a 269-111-27 (.694) all-time record and 74-11-7 (.842) all-time mark in six seasons in the NSIC. MSU has posted 17 consecutive winning seasons dating back to 1998.
Climbing the Ranks: Minnesota State is ranked 6th in the fifth edition of the regular season NSCAA poll after coming in at #10 in the last installment Sept. 29th.
Stars of the Northern Sun: A total of four Mavericks have garnered Player of the Week honors this season with Korey Kronforst (most recently) taking home her second title of the season. Abby Nordeen (Huntley, Ill.) received the honors the previous week and Kronforst took home the title in the first week of the 2015 season. The Mavericks currently sit atop the NSIC standings having out scored their oppositions by a mark of 38-4.
The Road Ahead: The #6 Mavericks will take to the road next weekend as they travel to Wayne State and Augustana in a couple of NSIC tilts Oct. 17-18. Both matches are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
