KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Minnesota State soccer continues to earn national recognition as two Mavericks have been named United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Americans for their outstanding play during the 2025 season. Senior defender
Anna Van Wyngarden was selected to the Second Team, while sophomore goalkeeper
Lauren McAlpine earned Third Team honors.
The duo played pivotal roles in leading MSU to an impressive 18-1-4 record and a spot in the NCAA Tournament's second round.
Van Wyngarden, the anchor of the Maverick back line, delivered another elite season. She started all 23 games, averaging nearly 85 minutes per match, while contributing two goals and two assists. Over her 91-game career, she totaled 10 goals and 13 assists, cementing herself as one of the most reliable defenders in program history. With her leadership, Minnesota State finished the year ranked third nationally in goals allowed per game.
McAlpine capped off an exceptional sophomore campaign as one of the top goalkeepers in Division II. She recorded a .910 save percentage, the second-best mark in the nation, while backstopping the Mavericks to one of the strongest defensive seasons in program history.
