MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State women's soccer had four student-athletes earn United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Central Region honors, with three being named to the First Team and one to the Second Team. Junior goalkeeper
Lauren McAlpine (Shoreview, Minn.), senior defender
Anna Van Wyngarden (West Des Moines, Iowa), and senior forward
Avery Korsching (Grimes, Iowa) earned First Team recognition, while senior defender
Kiera Laney (Maple Grove, Minn.) was selected to the Second Team.
McAlpine turned in a standout season in goal, posting a .910 save percentage, which ranks second among all Division II goalkeepers. She helped lead the Mavericks to an 18-1-4 overall record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Van Wyngarden anchored the Mavericks' back line and played a key role in the team's defensive success. She tallied two goals and three assists while starting and playing in all 23 matches.
Korsching was one of Minnesota State's top offensive threats this season, recording four goals and four assists. Two of her goals were game-winners, and she started all 23 contests for the Mavericks.
Laney, a Second Team selection, also made a strong impact on the defensive end, helping guide Minnesota State to its 18-1-4 record. She added one goal and two assists on the season.
