Box Score Grand Forks, N.D. --- The Minnesota State women’s hockey could not hold off seventh-rated North Dakota as it fell, 6-1, in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs Friday afternoon at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

UND struck 1:46 into the opening period on a goal by Becca Kohler, who tucked the puck under the stick of sprawling MSU netminder Danielle Butters, and Jocelyne Lamoureux made it a two-goal cushion when she put back her own rebound at the 8:01 mark. Josefine Jakobsen connected on a back-door pass from Michelle Karvinen at 12:33 before Monique Lamoureux beat a screened Butters - above the blocker - at 18:53 to give the home team a 4-0 advantage heading to the first intermission.

North Dakota added an additional marker at the 5:53 mark of the second period when Ashley Furia slipped a shot past the left pad of goaltender Erin Krichiver after a scramble in front of the crease.

However, Karvinen would convert on the power-play for North Dakota at the 11:40 mark to close out the contest’s scoring.
