Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State used a trio of third period goals - including the game-winner from senior
Kelsie Scott - to secure a 4-1 victory over visiting Ohio State in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Friday night at All Seasons Arena.
The victory elevates MSU to 4-9-0 overall and 1-8-0 within the league, while also securing the Mavericks' first conference win of the year. Ohio State falls to 3-7-2 overall and 2-7-2 in the conference.
Additionally, the victory is the Purple and Gold's first over the Buckeyes since Nov. 13, 2010, and its first home win since Nov. 10, 2007.
Minnesota State owned a one-goal lead after 20 minutes thanks to freshman
Savannah Quandt's (Mankato, Minn.) first career goal. Junior
Natalie Stoltz (St. Paul, Minn.) picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and streaked down with Quandt on a two-on-one; then Stoltz fed Quandt, who had her initial shot saved by senior
Chelsea Knapp, but buried the rebound to put MSU in front 1-0.

Danielle Butters (London, Ont.) to even the contest at 1-1.
MSU answered back at 4:57 of the third period with a goal of its own off a deflection on the power-play. Senior
Lauren Barnes (Burnsville, Minn.) blasted a shot from the blue line that senior
Kelsie Scott (Souris, Man,) tipped off the right post and past Knapp giving the Mavericks a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. Senior
Kari Lundberg (Woodbury, Minn.) pushed the lead to two at 7:48 with a slap shot from the top of the right circle that beat Knapp inside the right post. Fellow senior
Nicole Germaine (Mississauga, Ont.) completed the scoring for MSU with an empty-net marker at 17:45 just as Knapp was reaching the Buckeye bench.

Kathleen Rogan (Vancouver, B.C.) all earned assists for MSU in the win.
For the match, the Mavericks were outshot 39-34 and converted on one-of-two opportunities on the advantage. The Buckeyes finished one-of-seven on the power-play. Butters registered a game-high 38 saves, while Knapp earned 30 of her own for OSU.
