Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State junior right-handed pitchers Harvey Martin and Nick Sutherland have been named to the Daktronics Central Region First Team.

Martin, a native of Farmington, Mich., was one of four starting pitchers named to the Central Region First Team by Daktronics.  This is his first season with the Mavericks after transferring from Central Michigan University.  Martin owns a record of 10-0 in 13 appearances, while posting a sparkling 2.50 ERA and 1.13 WHIP this season.

Nick Sutherland, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., was the lone relief pitcher selected as a Central Region First Teamer.  Sutherland is also in his first season as a Maverick after transferring from Youngtown State University.  He has recorded 13 saves and a 5-0 record in 22 appearances, with 26 strikeouts in 37 and a third innings pitched.

Top-seeded Minnesota State (44-10) will face Regis University in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Central Region Tournament tonight with first-pitch set for 7 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato.
