Minnesota State to Host St. Cloud State this Weekend

On Tap: Minnesota State, 11-5 overall, 4-0 in the NSIC, is scheduled to host #8 St. Cloud State this Friday and Saturday, in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders at MSU Baseball Complex in Mankato, Minn. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday's for 1:30 p.m.

A Look at the Huskies: The St. Cloud State Huskies currently own a 12-2 overall mark, with this weekend's series being SCSU's first conference action...Joey Benke leads the Huskies with a .380 batting average and 19 hits (ranks second on the team)...Brian Hansen is the owner of a team-high 22 hits, including a team-high five doubles...Hansen also owns a team-best 15 RBI...pitcher Shawn Riesgraf leads the Huskies on the mound so far this season, with a 3-0 record, 1.86 ERA, four games started and a team-high 18 strikeouts.

Last Week: Due to poor weather conditions in Mankato, the Mavericks were forced to head south for what was scheduled to be their opening home series against Mary...The Mavericks finished the trip with a clean sweep of the Marauders, downing them by scores of 3-1 and 8-0 on Sunday, then a pair of 10-1 wins on Monday...Senior catcher Steven Helget led the team with a .571 batting average, going 4-for-7 at the plate, scoring five runs and earning two RBI...Junior utility player Jeremy Sudbeck was also successful at the plate, going 3-for-7 with five RBI and one run scored... Senior pitchers Danny Miller and Luke Putz, along with Junior pitchers Ben Kincaid and Blake Schwartz picked up wins for the Mavericks. Sophomore Mahlon Zimmerman and freshman Bryce Bellin each picked up saves.

Leading the Way: senior infielder Zach Rowles leads the Mavericks in hits this season with 19, while Senior outfielder/pitcher Danny Miller owns 18...Both Miller and Rowles are the only two Mavericks to have played in and started all 16 games this season...Freshman outfielder Scott Lindner leads the Mavericks in batting average (.379)...Junior outfielder/pitcher Ben Kincaid, junior infielder Matt Kuchenbecker and Miller have each hit a team-best three doubles, Miller has also tagged three triples on the year, a team-high, while junior infielder Pat Dockendorf has ripped a team-best three home runs on the year...NSIC Preseason Pitcher of  the Year pick Blake Schwartz leads MSU on the mound with a 4-0 mark, a team-best 0.86 ERA and 20 (ranks second on the team) while Miller (3-1) holds a team-high 29 strikeouts.
