Wayne, Neb. – The Minnesota State baseball squad swept the Beavers of Bemidji State Monday afternoon in Wayne, Neb., downing BSU 10-5 in the first game and 5-0 in the second. 
 
In the Mavericks first contest, senior outfielder Aaron Berner started things off for the Mavericks, tagging a single and eventually scoring on a wild pitch. BSU held a 3-1 lead heading into the third inning when MSU exploded for six runs. The six runs came by way of RBI singles from junior infielder Matt Kuchenbecker, Berner, junior outfielder Jeremy Sudbeck, followed by two runs being walked in and an RBI single from senior left-handed pitcher Danny Miller.
 
MSU never lost its lead after that, with junior infielder Pat Dockendorf ripping a two-run homer in the sixth and freshman outfielder Parker Sullivan scoring on a fielder’s choice in the seventh, giving the Mavericks the, 10-5 win. 
 
MSU had 13 to the Beavers eight. Individually, Dockendorf went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Kincaid went 2-2 at the plate.
 
Miller earned his second victory of the season, now 3-1 on the year, pitching 5.1 innings, while giving up seven hits, five runs (three earned), walking four and fanning four. Sophomore righty Mahlon Zimmerman pitched a scoreless seventh, earning one strikeout.
 
In the second contest, the Mavericks used a three-run sixth inning to down the Beavers, 5-0. MSU got things started in the second with Sudbeck hitting a sacrifice fly scoring junior outfielder Ben Kincaid, then Kincaid hitting a sacrifice fly to score senior infielder Zach Rowles in the third inning. 
 
In the sixth, Sudbeck hit an RBI single, junior first baseman Matt Odegaard hit a sacrifice fly and Kuchenbecker scored on a wild pitch, giving the Mavericks the, 5-0 win.
 
In game two, Bemidji State out hit the Mavericks, 5-3. 
 
Sudbeck led the team in the second contest, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. 
 
Junior righty Blake Schwartz improved his record to, 3-0, going six innings, scattering four hits, not run, one walk and four strikeouts. Zimmerman again pitched a scoreless seventh inning. 
 
Minnesota State (7-4 overall) will face Nebraska-Omaha tomorrow in Omaha, Neb. for a nonconference tilt with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
