On Tap: The Minnesota State baseball team will begin its 2010-11 season this weekend facing nine opponents in nonconference action during their annual spring trip. Last Season: The Minnesota State baseball team finished its 2010 season with a 44-16 overall mark and first in the NSIC with a 25-7 record. Besides taking the NSIC regular season title, the Mavericks grabbed the NSIC postseason tournament crown and traveled to Farmington, N.M., to capture the NCAA Central Region title as the second seed. The team then advanced to the 2010 Division II College World Series in Cary, N.C., where MSU finished seventh.
2010 Team Notes: MSU finished the season having won 17 of its last 23 games...On the year, they outscored their opponents 469-259 and out hit its opponents 678-470...The Mavericks scored the majority of their runs in the fourth inning (73), while having given up the most runs in the fifth (42)...They made their 29th NCAA Tournament appearance (regional berths), which ranks only behind Florida Southern’s 39 trips to the NCAA tournament.
2010 All-American: Last year as a sophomore, right-handed pitcher 
Blake Schwartz who earned Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association 2010 Third-Team All-American honors earlier this week was also tabbed All-American Honorable Mention by National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association of America (NCBWA).
