NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament Information: Minnesota State (44-14), the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champions, will make the program’s fifth appearance in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament when it participates in the 2010 NCAA National Tournament in Cary, N.C., May 22-29.
MSU’s NCAA History: The Mavericks will make the trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the fifth time in program history. MSU made trips in 1971, 1979, 1980 and 1986, with the best finish coming in 1980 when they finished third.
NCAA Central Region Tournament: The Mavericks, seeded second in the Central Region, started the tournament 3-0, defeating fifth-seeded Nebraska-Kearney, 6-1, Mesa State, 8-7, and St. Cloud State, 11-10, on their way to the tournament’s championship game. MSU then dropped their first contest to the St. Cloud State Huskies, 16-6, but took the Central Region crown with a 20-6 win in the forced game two.

Miller, who hit .435 in MSU’s five tournament games with eight runs batted in, six runs scored, five doubles and a triple, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Miller also pitched the Central Region Championship game. He improved his record to 3-0 on the season, going seven innings, while giving up three runs off of four hits, he walked four and sat down five batters on strikes.
