Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State sophomore right-handed pitcher Blake Schwartz has been named Regional Pitcher of the Year by Daktronics, Rawlings/ABCA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Senior pitcher Pat Lenton has also landed on three All-Region Teams, along with junior righthanded pitcher Bret Mitchell and junior righthanded reliever Luke Putz.  Sophomore Pat Dockendorf was lauded by one organization and junior outfielder Danny Miller and sophomore first baseman Matt Odegaard, along with  Blake Schwartz, were named to the Rawlings/ABCA Region Gold Glove First Team for their defensive prowess.

Schwartz, a native of Rosemount, Minn., who was named NSIC Pitcher of the Year and was an All-NSIC First Team selection earlier this month, was named Region Pitcher of the Year by Daktronics, Rawlings ABCA and the NCBWA.  Schwartz is 10-2 on the year with a 3.79 earned run average and has 64 strike outs in 90.1 innings.

Senior righthanded pitcher Patrick Lenton, who like Schwartz, garnered All-Region First Team recognition from Daktronics, Rawlings/ABCA and NCBWA, is 9-3 with a 3.31 ERA and has 78 Ks in 92.1 innings.

Junior righthanded pitcher Luke Putz was named First Team All-Region by Daktronics and NCBWA and Second Team by Rawlings/ABCA. One of the top relievers in the country, Putz is 1-1 with eight saves and has a 2.59 ERA in 24.1 innings and 20 appearances.

Junior righty Bret Mitchell, who is 10-3 with a 3.86 ERA and has 100 strike outs in 88.2 innings, was named Second Team All-Region by Daktronics, Rawlings/ABCA and NCBWA.  

Sophomore designated hitter Patrick Dockendorf, who leads MSU with a .407 batting average and has eight homers and 44 runs batted in was a second team pick by Daktronics.

Junior outfielder Danny Miller (.993 fld%, 11 assists) and sophomore first baseman Matt Odegaard (.993 fld%, 38 assists) both earned Rawlings/ABCA Central Region Gold Glove First Team honors.

The Mavericks, who stand 44-14 for the year, are scheduled to take on Southern Indiana at the 2010 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Sunday in Cary, N.C.
