Mavericks Wrap Up Round One of Central Region Fall Preview

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team wrapped up the first round of the Central Region Fall Preview in a tie for 11th.

"Unfortunately, we didn't have our best stuff in the bottom spots," Head Coach Alex Schmitz said. "But we still have a pretty young team. It's always good when you have consistency in your one bag, but we need a few more to step up to help contribute."

The two-round Central Region Fall Preview is being held at the par-72 Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. A total of 16 teams are competing in the event. MSU sits in a tie for 11th place with a score of 317 (+29). Nebraska-Kearney leads the team standings with a score of 290 (+2).

Augustana's Payton Drefke and Nebraska-Kearney's Liz Lyons lead the field individually as they both shot a 71 (-1).

Junior Emeson Garlie paced the Mavericks in round one as she shot a 74 (+2), to finish the round in a tie for 10th. Garlie recorded two birdies and 11 pars in her opening round. Junior Aly Blomberg shot a 78 (+6) which included a birdie and 12 pars to finish the day in a tie for 39th.

Freshman Brooklyn Lee, junior Kelby Anderson and senior Lauren Brown each finished one stroke apart. Lee shot an 82 (+10), with Anderson following one stroke back at 83 (+11). Brown tallied an 84 (+12) as well. Lee recorded a pair of birdies on the day, while Brown posted one. Anderson recorded 10 pars also.

Freshman Tayla Perry competed independently and finished round one with a score of 89 (+17).

Minnesota State concludes the Central Region Fall Preview on Wednesday.
