MANKATO, Minn. – Former Maverick men's hockey forwards Marc Michaelis '20 and Parker Tuomie were named to Team Germany at the 2026 IIHF World Championships, which begin May 15 in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland.

This marks the second time this year that the duo has skated for Team Germany in international competition as they also skated in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.

At the Winter Olympics, Michaelis saw action in all five Germany games while Tuomie played in three.  Team Germany advanced to the quarterfinals.

Michaelis was a prolific scorer for the Mavericks from 2016-20. He finished his collegiate career with 71 goals and 91 assists for 162 points in 148 games, tied for second on MSU's all-time scoring list (Division I era). He was named WCHA Player of the Year as a senior and a top ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

Michaelis made his National Hockey League debut on March 4, 2021, playing for the Vancouver Canucks. He has 15 games of NHL experience and has also had professional stints in the AHL (Toronto Marlies) and Swiss-A (Langnau Tigers, Zug EV). He currently plays for his hometown team, the Mannheim Eagles, in Germany and has 42 points (11 goals, 31 assists) in 52 games this season.

Tuomie also played for the Mavericks from 2016-20 and finished his collegiate career with 45 goals, 87 assists and 132 points in 152 games. Upon graduation, Tuomie ranked sixth on MSU's all-time scoring list (Division I era).

A two-time All-WCHA second team selection, Tuomie (Hassfurt, Germany) won a league championship with the Berlin Polar Bears in 2020-21. This season he has played with Kölner Hale and in 34 games has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points.

This marks the fifth time that Michaelis has participated in the IIHF World Championships (2019, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026) and the third time for Tuomie (2023, 2024, 2026).
