Luke Strand has announced
Will Skahan will join the Mavericks for the 2026-27 season.
Skahan, a left-handed defenseman, was a second-round pick (#65) by the Utah Mammoth in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Originally from Woodbury, Minn., Skahan was listed at 6'5", 223 pounds this past season.
In two seasons at Boston College he appeared in 61games, scoring three goals and registering five assists for eight points. This past season he blocked 27 shots for the Eagles.
"Will brings our backend a presence of size, skating and experience that is needed to replace our departures," said Strand. "His attributes are exciting and we are looking forward to working with him in our player development model."
Skahan was a member of the 2024 US National U18 and 2023 US National U17 teams. Additionally, he played two years (2022-23, 2023-24) in the USHL with the USA National Development Program. In those two years he played in 68 games, scoring six goals and tallying 14 assists for 20 points.
