MANKATO, Minn. Minnesota State is set to return home this week as the Mavericks host Bemidji State (6-21, 3-13 NSIC) on Monday, April 6, for a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m., before welcoming Wayne State (19-11, 11-6 NSIC) on Wednesday, April 8, for another doubleheader at 1:30 p.m. Both matchups will take place at Bowyer Field and will be streamed on the NSIC Network.

Last Time Out

The Mavericks enter the week with strong momentum, coming off a three-game sweep of Concordia-St. Paul and a split doubleheader with Sioux Falls.

Minnesota State opened the weekend with back-to-back wins over the Golden Bears, taking game one 8–2 and game two 6–1. In the opener, the Mavericks set the tone early with a four-run first inning fueled by aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. Jake Berkland sparked the rally, while Louis Magers, Brandon Vlcko, and Charlie Schau all contributed key RBIs.

After Concordia-St. Paul plated two runs in the sixth, the Mavericks responded with insurance runs, including a two-run home run from Magers, to secure the win. Sam George earned the victory with six innings of work, while Cale Haugen closed out the game.

In game two, Minnesota State once again jumped out early and never looked back. Jake Berkland and CJ Trask helped manufacture runs in the first inning before a bases-loaded opportunity in the second pushed the lead to 5–0. Mack Crowley delivered a dominant outing on the mound, striking out 10 over six innings, while Daniel Zang shut the door with three scoreless innings in relief.

The Mavericks completed the sweep on Sunday with an 11–1 run-rule victory. A five-run sixth inning broke the game open, highlighted by Ethan Bowers' two-run home run and RBIs from Pambos Nicoloudes, Berkland, and Trask. The pitching staff combined for a dominant effort, limiting Concordia-St. Paul to just one run while the bullpen held strong down the stretch.

Minnesota State carried that momentum into Tuesday's doubleheader against Sioux Falls, splitting the series. The Mavericks powered their way to a 13–6 win in game one behind a huge performance from CJ Trask, who drove in six runs, including a three-run triple and a three-run home run.

Game two saw Minnesota State launch five home runs, including a record-breaking 45th career homer from Louis Magers, but the Mavericks fell 10–8 after a walk-off three-run home run by Sioux Falls in the ninth inning.
