DES MOINES, Iowa --- The Minnesota State men's and women's teams both finished first in the team standings at the Drake Relays.
This marks the fourth straight season that both the men and women have won the team championships.
Minnesota State returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts the Todd Pfingsten Open at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
"We're really excited on how well both teams competed across all the different areas," head coach
Mike Turgeon said. "The Drake Relays feature some of the best competition in the nation and we are pleased with how our athletes did. We are looking forward to getting back home for a few tune ups to get ready for our conference meet."
Men
The 4x110 shuttle hurdles team of
Rinaldo Moore,
Keaton Wattier,
Kenjuan Hampton and
Jalen McGee set a new Division II record with a time of 55.83, that ranks ninth all-time across all divisions.
The 4x400 relay team of Moore,
Qai Hussey, Hampton and
Quinton Ellis took first place with a time of 3:06.48 which ranks second in Division II.
The 4x100 relay team of
Robert McGhee, Hampton, Moore and Hussey finished in third place with a time of 40.02.
Moore also turned in a time of 13.80 in the 110m hurdles to finish second.
Keaton Wattier placed tenth with a time of 14.08 also.
Jack Kendall took ninth place in the 5,000m event unseeded with a time of 15:03.68.
Marenono Opiew finished in seventh place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.12.
Noel Foellinger finished seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 4.96m (16-3.25), while Blake
Wakeling posted a mark of 4.81m (15-9.25) to finish in 15th place.
Hugo Albanese took fourth place in the high jump event as he posted a jump of 2.08m (6-9.75). McGee took seventh place in the long jump event with a jump of 6.95 m (22-9.75)
The shot put championship saw
Hayden Bills take sixth place with a throw of 17.92m (58-9.5).
Dylan Gross took ninth place with a toss of 16.60m (54-5.5).
The distance medley relay team of
Jaden Miller,
Qamerin Hussey,
Jonathon Owen and
Erek Ross recorded a time of 10:05.87 to finish in fifth place.
The sprint medley relay team of Hampton, Hussey, McGhee and Ellis turned in a fourth place finish with a time of 3:25.94.
Women
In the heptathlon event,
Alexa Post finished in 12th with 4,104 points, which included a fifth place finish in the 200m (25.71) event.
Jordin McGee recorded a time of 13.70 in the 100m hurdles to finish in ninth place.
In the 10,000m event,
Amanda Overgaauw posted a time of 37:53.93 to finish in 15th place.
Willow Oehmichen took 13th place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.78m (12-4.75).
The long jump championship saw
Miranda Lauvstad finish in third place with a jump of 6.02m (19-9)
Arabella Knudson take 12th place with a jump of 5.62m (18-5.25).
In the high jump
Lilian Washington took second place with a jump of 1.71m (5-7.25), while
Rainna Jameson took fifth place with a jump of 1.66m (5-5.25).
The 100m hurdles event saw
Esaba Okwaramoi finish tenth with a time of 13.70, with Lauvstad following in 14th with a time of 14.01.
In the discus,
Rejoice Agbewodie posted a throw of 48.62m (159-6) to finish fourth, while
Aubri Brown posted a throw of 43.82m (143-9) to finish in 13th place.
Emma Osier took 18th place in the shot put event with a throw of 12.77m (41-10.75) also.
The 4x100 relay team of
Chantle Reiland, Lauvstad,
Aaliyannah Anderson and
Dayjonique Cato finished in third place with a time of 46.30.
The 4x400 team of
Grace Hambel,
Brianna Shroyer,
Kenyatta Grate and Lauvstad took second place with a time of 3:41.19 that ranks 11th in Division II.
The distance medley relay team of
Tara Hertling,
Grace Obour,
Addison Peed and
Ashley Overgaauw finished in fourth place with a time of 12:08.40.
The sprint medley relay team of Reiland,
Norah D'Almeida, Shroyer and
Amalinally Pemberton recorded a time of 4:06.98 to take third place.
